I'm sitting in my townhouse listening to the kids play outside. Currently they are 'ordering from McDonalds' right outside my door. It's pretty hilarious to listen to what they are ordering, and how much the other kid playing the cashier is charging them. It's surprisingly accurate!
Miles is upstairs taking a short nap so he can see Trevor after work tonight. So Hazel and I are sitting downstairs trying to do my homework. I say trying, because it's not getting done very quickly. I've never been 38 weeks pregnant before. At 37 weeks when I had Miles I thought I was going to combust. Maybe it was because I was teaching full time, or maybe the high blood pressure did have an effect on the way I felt. This go-round I don't feel as uncomfortable. My only complaint is the pelvic pain I've had the entire second half of this pregnancy. I've self-diagnosed it as Symphysis Pubic Dysfunction because it is word-for-word what the internet says that feels like. Maybe I'm just a wimp, who knows.
We've been getting to see Miss Hazel via ultrasound every Wednesday, thank you very much high glucose numbers. It's neat to get to watch her breathe and move around in there. She is pretty cute up there on the screen. I can't really tell how close I'm getting to labor. The ultrasound tech tells me I'm measuring ahead. The doctor says my cervix is still long. He always ends my visits with: see you in a week....or before in labor and delivery! Babies are unpredictable.
Here's to hoping she decides she'd like to be like her mom: early or on time.

All I want is chocolate cake.
Just for the sake of my pregnant memory, I thought I should document this fun phase of pregnancy I'm currently in. You may remember with Miles, my blood pressure unexplainably shot up around week 35, resulting in him being induced at week 37. Going into this pregnancy I have been doing all I can to make sure I don't have a repeat of high blood pressure. It was no fun being on bedrest, and I can't imagine doing it with Miles around now. So, when I went to the doctor last Monday, I was relieved to know that my blood pressure was perfect.
Then he told me my glucose levels were 'wacky'. I know, such a medical term. In switching doctor's late in pregnancy because of our move, my glucose test got delayed. My first one hour test came back 2 points over the 'cut off' for an acceptable level. I attributed this to the guy taking my blood didn't wait the full hour before he took it. So off I went for the 3 hour test. All along the nurses and my doctor have given me different views of my numbers. The nurses acted like it was totally fine, my doctor has been siding with the more cautious view of, lets get more information.
I didn't hear anything from my three hour results for nearly a week. The receptionist told me that 'no news is good news' so I assumed that it had turned out fine. Well, at my last appointment was when I got the diagnosis of 'wacky levels'. Basically my first and second hours were around 8 points more than the cut off, and my third hour was within range. So my next step was to monitor my glucose levels at home with a blood glucose meter. Then the doctor rattled off all these terrible side effects at birth that could happen as a result of my 'high blood sugar'. At the end of the appointment he was like, Everything looks great, see you in a week. uhhhhh what?
So, for the last week I've been watching my carb intake and checking my blood sugar. It has always been well within range (between 90-100, 2 hours after meals: the cut-off is 120) (in the 70s when I wake up). So I'm not too worried about birth complications because Hazel is weighing in right on track with her 36 week and I'm measuring good. I've gained 14lbs now and she is moving constantly.
Besides a healthy baby, I can't wait to eat a huge piece of chocolate cake. Come on July!

Miles at 13 months/ 36 weeks pregnant
Miles has had a busy 6 weeks since his birthday! (in no particular order)
He went to Arkansas to visit his friend Elsa. They had a great time eating and playing. Miles had fun splashing in the pool and tub, Elsa didn't enjoy him getting her face wet. Trevor and I had a great time catching up with Elsa's parents.

Miles tried his hand at painting a canvas. He managed to keep all the paint on the shower curtain he was sitting on. He went straight into the kitchen sink when this project was over.
Grammy and Papa came to visit. They brought him this rocking cow. To say he loves it is an understatement. I love it because it's low enough to the ground when he falls off of it, he doesn't get hurt.
Gramma and Pops got Miles this shark pool for our balcony. He thinks he should be able to stay in it all day. He loves playing with toys and sticking his head in the water.
Miles has also been working on the throwing fits. This particular fit was because I wouldn't let him eat an old, used Band-Aid. Cry me a river.
Miles learned to crawl. Well, it's a work in progress but he can move himself officially. He's not going to win any races anytime soon. He also has been pulling-up and cruising more.
Miles has also cut at least 3 more teeth. These are his two top teeth, which I think are hilariously far apart. He gets that from his dad. :) He hates when I look or feel in his mouth, but I know there is at least one molar popped through on the top left side.
This week marks week 36 of my pregnancy with Hazel. As of last week at the doctor, I was measuring a little bit ahead. Her heart rate was 158 bpm, and I had gained 11 lbs from my first appointment. The doctor was pleased with all these things and told me he would start checking for dilation at my appointment this week. My major complaint is still heartburn, even with daily meds sometimes it gets so annoying. Hazel is still all about moving around in there, and I'm convinced she will be bigger than Miles was when he was born. Here's to hoping she decided to come at the beginning of July instead of the middle because I'm SO OVER being pregnant.

May 2014
So, I'm fully aware that it's June 1st. The last time I posted was Miles first birthday at the end of April. I can't just skip over May because it was a big month. So, in order to keep things straight, I present you with a bulleted list.
* Trevor finished his last year of Pharmacy Classes. We had his White Coat Ceremony and one more picnic with all his Pharmacy School friends.
* Trevor finished his last year of Pharmacy Classes. We had his White Coat Ceremony and one more picnic with all his Pharmacy School friends.
Miles fell asleep right at the end of the two hour ceremony. We missed seeing Trevor's scholarship awarded because it was the one time he was fussy.
The ONLY thing we enjoyed about the rigor of Pharmacy School/Weatherford were our awesome friends.
A good portion of Trevor's class of Pharmacy School
* We traveled home to Missouri for a last visit before Hazel was born. A bonus got thrown in when we got to pick Uncle Travis up from the airport. Miles also had a family birthday party.
Miles with his cousins, Kaia and David
Miles having a conversation with Uncle Michael
Miles with his Super-Cousin, Grace
Checking out some birthday presents
He had some help opening them.
Chowing down on Gramma's Chocolate Sheet Cake
He loves his Grammy!
Papa is giving Miles some 'cow-riding' tips
* The last major thing that happened is that we moved out of Weatherford (finally) and got settled into Tulsa. We would still be living in a pile of boxes, but my parents came and unpacked them.
* I also met with my new OBGYN. I'm happy to report that Hazel is growing right on track, with a healthy heart rate of 148. She's already head down. I'm almost 34 weeks pregnant and can't wait for this pregnancy to be over! It's getting to be impossible to get Miles down on the floor and us both back up again.

Miles at 1 Year
A year ago I was chilling on bedrest, bored, and so ready to meet our boy. A year later, I couldn't be more proud of the person he is growing in to. He has a smile for everyone, contemplates everything carefully, and is always willing to hug my face.
Some words he says: Dada, Mama, Papa, 'Gog' (dog), na-na-na (No)
He always shakes his head 'yes' to indicate that he wants something, or more of something.
He can roar like a lion when asked, or at random times during the day.
He always touches objects with just his pointer finger first, before he goes for it with his whole hand.
When we read books he likes to point to things on the page so I can say what it is. He could do this for hours.
He can move from his stomach to his bottom and back down. He can pull up in his crib.
He can cruise along the couch and walk holding on to hands. He likes to stand independently and play. He can get on his hands and knees, but refuses to crawl.
He laughs and giggles easily. His big belly laughs are reserved for Samson and Ezra. Yesterday, after I gave Samson a bath I was drying him off with a towel, and Miles thought this was so funny.
Miles loves the water and taking baths.
He loves his blankies and won't sleep without one by his face. He knows how to put himself to sleep in his crib for bedtime and naps.
He is a champion eater, I haven't found anything yet he doesn't like.
He just got his 3rd tooth. He now has the two bottom middle, and the top left.
(GOOD LUCK getting a photo of those teeth)
He only falls asleep on his dad.

We think he is one cool dude and couldn't be prouder of him!
Happy first birthday sweet boy! We are so glad you are ours.

Miles the artist//Hazel @26 weeks
I dislike Saturdays. Mostly because Trevor is gone from 10am-9pm and it's LONG day alone with Miles with no car, and as of yesterday, no cable. I saw a non-toxic paint recipe on a friend's facebook the other day, and even though her son's a year older than Miles, I thought I would give it a try. After all, it's never too early to start letting him have sensory experiences, right? So off we set with three colors and a blank sheet of paper. You can see at the beginning he was a bit reserved. *I had taken his shirt off to avoid a huge mess-- I now realize I should have taken his pants off as well*
Then I took the blue paint, and gave him the yellow....
Then I set the yellow out of the way and gave him the red. As you can see, he already had as much on his pants as he did on the paper.
At this point, I knew a bath was in order, so I just let him have all the paints he wanted. Then he figured out if he would just dump the paint on the paper, it would be more efficient.
This was Miles as I scooped him up to put him in the bathtub. I mean, who doesn't take a bath at 10:30 am? The flour/water/food coloring mixture washed off him very easily and after all that excitement he took a great nap!
Week 26: Hazel is just as feisty as usual this week. I have been having some hip pain for a month or so, and when I asked my doctor about it he suggested I see a chiropractor. So last Monday, I did. I have to say, I would have rather spent the money on a massage. He adjusted my neck, back, and hips, so he says. I guess I was excepting them to pop or something. I left the office with a head-ache. I haven't noticed a difference with my hip, better or worse, so I won't be going back. I found a new OBGYN in Tulsa that I have my first appointment with on May 12. I'm hopeful that he will want to do an ultra-sound so we can see our girl again. The nurse on the phone said the initial appointment will take 2 hours! I have no idea what they are going to do that long. Below is a picture of Hazel's favorite pastime, which I call-- try to break out of mom's stomach--. This is a regular thing for her. It only makes me slightly worried about her 2s, 3s, and teenage years.

4/1/14 update
Miles is taking strides in his own movement-- so far he's discovered that be really likes the spinning toy on his walker. HA! I've had a nice talk with him an told him, whenever he's ready to start crawling or walking, I'm more than ready. He is getting heavy!
Miles has also been practicing is duck face. Since it's all the rave these days, he's trying to get a head start. I have to say, it's a pretty cute duck face.
Here's my only proof there's a baby growing in me, other than a few ultrasounds. Sorry Hazel, this is as good as it gets. (25 weeks)
Miles has really taken to the dogs lately. He loves them. (Please excuse the medicine in his hand, he is currently into things that rattle, and this fits his hand perfectly. There is a safety cap on, and he's closely monitored.)
